01Civic coreLOCAL STAR
Local-first communication
A neighborhood computer, sensor hub, mesh relay, and honest gateway to certified satellite backhaul.
EL SEGUNDO + 25 MILES / FOUNDING DIRECTION 001
A family of local-first objects for cleaner air, better water, humane light, quiet care, resilient power, and neighborhood connection.

THE FUTURE SHOULD FEEL
CLOSER TO HOME.
THE OBJECT FAMILY
Technology can be capable without becoming invasive. Each companion does one understandable job, works with the civic core, and remains useful when distant systems are unavailable.
01Civic coreLocal-first communication
A neighborhood computer, sensor hub, mesh relay, and honest gateway to certified satellite backhaul.
02BreatheAir quality + filtration
Quiet air insight, filtration control, and replaceable-filter status without a camera or cloud microphone.
03RefillWater + filter awareness
A beautiful refill ritual with filtration and filter-life cues that never pretend to be a potability laboratory.
04RestoreLight + outage beacon
Circadian task light by night, low path light during outages, and a subtle beacon for the local mesh.
05ConnectPrivate daily check-in
A private one-touch daily check-in for trusted people—without surveillance, clinical claims, or emergency theater.
06ContinueModular local resilience
Quiet modular backup for communication, light, and personal devices when the larger grid disappears.
THE MOVEMENT
Core functions keep working nearby. Cloud and satellite links extend the system; they do not own it.
Voice begins with useful work, field learning, care, fabrication, documentation, or stewardship—not a purchase.
Collect less. Explain every sensor. Give people a real off switch. Never turn a home into an extraction surface.
Open interfaces, replaceable modules, published service paths, and regional repair capacity are product requirements.
LOCAL STAR COMMONS / DAO PROTOTYPE
The Commons is the governance layer for the movement: product priorities, pilot safeguards, open standards, field learning, and the conditions for any future treasury. Membership is contribution-based and non-transferable.
Signals below are private to this browser during the founding prototype.
Place a small, diverse test cohort across homes, studios, a library-scale space, and light-industrial workplaces inside the pilot radius.
Present askDefine host criteria and field-learning safeguards.
Publish a plain-language contract for every sensed input: purpose, retention, local processing, sharing, deletion, and physical disablement.
Present askStress-test the covenant with residents and accessibility advocates.
Make repair manuals, module interfaces, diagnostic states, and a shared parts library part of the first production plan.

FOUNDING CHARTER / V0.1
Governance begins with boundaries. The founding charter makes the purpose, power, and disabled functions visible before a token, treasury, or legal wrapper is considered.
Download machine-readable charter ↘Improve daily life and neighborhood resilience through calm, useful, locally accountable technology.
One person, one non-transferable membership voice earned through a documented contribution or pilot responsibility.
Every proposal moves through signal, shape, review, vote, field, and retrospective stages.
Founding votes require a published rationale, a minimum review window, and conflict disclosures.
Disabled at launch. No token sale, pooled funds, yield, return, or financial promise exists in this prototype.
Open specifications are the default. Privacy, accessibility, repairability, and graceful offline behavior are hard gates.
Working-circle stewards facilitate and document; they do not own the Commons or gain permanent control.
The charter can change only through the same public proposal process it defines, with a higher review threshold.
THE FIRST FIELD / 25-MILE RADIUS
El Segundo is a rare meeting point for aerospace, advanced manufacturing, logistics, creative production, education, hospitality, and neighborhood life. The pilot uses that density to test whether local infrastructure can be more useful, legible, and humane.
FOUNDING SIGNAL / FIRST 100 CONTRIBUTORS
A field site. A fabrication skill. A privacy critique. A repair bench. A neighborhood introduction. A better question. The first membership act is a contribution, not a transaction.
